Installation (Diamante, Eclipse 3.0L & Galant 3.0L)

During distributor installation, align engine timing marks and ensure cylinder No. 1 is at TDC. Align mating marks on distributor housing and shaft. See Fig 1. Apply 0.07 oz. (2 grams) of multipurpose grease to distributor shaft and seal. Install distributor. Install distributor retaining nut finger-tight. Verify ignition timing is correct. Tighten distributor retaining bolt/nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Check timing. See IGNITION TIMING in ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article.
