Except Diamante

  1. Start and warm engine until engine coolant temperature is 176-203°F (80-95°C). Turn lights and accessories off. Put automatic transmission in Park or manual transmission in Neutral.
  2. Connect scan tool to OBD-II Data Link Connector (DLC) located below instrument panel, to right of steering column (except Montero Sport) or left of steering column (Montero Sport). See Figure-Figure . Ensure ignition timing is correct. See IGNITION TIMING .
  3. Start engine and allow it to idle for 2 minutes. Check curb idle speed by selecting item number 22 on scan tool taking reading of idle speed. See IDLE SPEED SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. If idle speed is outside standard value, see ROUGH OR UNSTABLE IDLE in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
