- If air bag diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If air bag diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect driver-side air bag connector at base of steering column. See Figure. Install Driver/Passenger Air Bag Load Tool (09932-75010) to harness connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Recheck DTC's. If DTC B1024 is displayed, go to next step. If DTC B1024 is not displayed, go to step 4.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect SDM connector. See Figure. Measure resistance between SDM connector terminals No. 11 and 12. See Figure. If resistance is 4.5 ohms or less, replace SDM. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step 5. If resistance is more than 4.5 ohms, an open or high resistance exists in Green or Green/Red wire. Replace wiring harness. Go to step 5.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect driver/passenger air bag load tool from harness connector. Reconnect driver-side air bag connector at base of steering column. Remove driver-side air bag module. See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect driver/passenger air bag load tool contact coil connector at steering wheel. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Recheck DTC's. If DTC B1024 is displayed, replace contact coil assembly. See CONTACT COIL & COMBINATION SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step. If DTC B1024 is not displayed, replace driver-side air bag. Go to next step.
- Reconnect all air bag system components. Using scan tool, clear all DTC's. Go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
