Diagnostic Procedure

  1. If air bag diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If air bag diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect passenger-side air bag connector behind glove box. See Figure. Install Driver/Passenger Air Bag Load Tool (09932-75010) to harness connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Recheck DTC's. If DTC B1016 is displayed, go to next step. If DTC B1016 is not displayed, replace passenger-side air bag. See PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step  4.
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect SDM connector. See Figure. Measure resistance between SDM connector terminals No. 10 and 15. See Figure. If resistance is 1.2 ohms or more, replace SDM. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step. If resistance is less than 1.2 ohms, a short exists between Yellow and Yellow/Red wires. Replace wiring harness. Go to next step.
  4. Reconnect all air bag system components. Using scan tool, clear all DTC's. Go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
