- If air bag diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If air bag diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Turn ignition switch to ON position and observe AIR BAG warning light. If light flashes a DTC pattern, go to next step. If light does not flash a DTC pattern, replace SDM. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Check air bag monitor coupler. See Figure. If coupler has a jumper wire between terminals No. 1 and 4, remove jumper wire and go to step 5. If coupler does not have a jumper wire, go to next step.
- Disconnect SDM connector. See Figure. Measure resistance between SDM connector terminal No. 30 and ground. See Figure. If resistance is less than one k/ohms, replace SDM. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step. If resistance is one k/ohms or more, a short to ground condition exists in Violet wire. Replace wiring harness and go to next step.
- Reconnect all air bag system components. Using scan tool, clear all DTC's. Go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
