Oil Pan and Oil Pump Strainer Removal and Installation: Installation

  1. Install new O-ring (1) to lower crankcase as shown in figure.
  2. Install two new O-rings to oil pump strainer.

  3. Install oil pan baffle plate to upper oil pan.

    Tighten oil pan baffle plate bolts to specified torque.

    Tightening torque 

    Oil pan baffle plate bolt: 11 N.m (1.1 kg-m, 8.0 lb-ft) 

  4. Apply sealant "A" to upper oil pan (1) sealing surface area as shown in figure.

    "A": Water tight sealant 99000-31250

  5. Place the upper oil pan (1) on the cross member and suspension member (just beneath the lower crankcase). At this point install oil pump strainer.

    Tightening torque 

    Oil pump strainer bolt (a): 11 N.m (1.1 kg-m, 8.0 lb-ft)

  6. Install upper oil pan (1) to lower crankcase as follows.
    1. Fit upper oil pan (1) to cylinder block.
    2. Tighten upper oil pan bolts and nuts temporarily by hand.
    3. Tighten upper oil pan bolts and nuts to specified torque by numerical order as shown in Fig 4 .

      Tightening torque 

      Upper oil pan bolt (a): Tighten 11 N.m (1.1 kg-m, 8.0 lb-ft) by the specified procedure 

      Upper oil pan bolt (b): Tighten 27 N.m (2.7 kg-m, 19.5 lb-ft) by the specified procedure 

      Upper oil pan nut (c): Tighten 11 N.m (1.1 kg-m, 8.0 lb-ft) by the specified procedure

  7. Install bracket (3) to oil pump strainer (2) and upper oil pan (1).

    Tightening torque 

    Oil pump strainer bracket bolt (d): 11 N.m (1.1 kg-m, 8.0 lb-ft)

  8. Apply sealant "A" to lower oil pan sealing surface area as shown in figure.

    "A": Water tight sealant 99000-31250 

  9. Install lower oil pan to upper oil pan as follows.
    1. Fit lower oil pan (1) to upper oil pan.
    2. Tighten lower oil pan bolts and nuts temporarily by hand.
    3. Tighten lower oil pan bolts and nuts to specified torque by numerical order as shown in Fig 6 .

      Tightening torque 

      Lower oil pan bolt (e): Tighten 11 N.m (1.1 kg-m, 8.0 lb-ft) by the specified procedure 

      Lower oil pan nut (f): Tighten 11 N.m (1.1 kg-m, 8.0 lb-ft) by the specified procedure

  10. Install new gasket (1) and drain plug (2) to oil pan.

    Tightening torque 

    Engine oil drain plug (f): 50 N.m (5.0 kg-m, 36.5 lb-ft)

  11. Attach radiator outlet pipe to upper oil pan.
  12. Install front differential housing according to installation procedure described in "FRONT DIFFERENTIAL DISMOUNTING AND REMOUNTING ".
  13. Install rack and pinion assembly. Refer to "POWER STEERING GEAR BOX ASSEMBLY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ".
  14. Refill front differential housing with gear oil if drained, referring to "FRONT DIFFERENTIAL GEAR OIL INSPECTION AND CHANGE ".
  15. Install oil level gauge guide with new O-ring.
  16. Refill engine with engine oil. See appropriate maintenance for engine oil and filter. ".
  17. Check wheel alignment, referring to "WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS ".
