Insert a Phillips head screwdriver [shank diameter 8 mm (0.3 inch)] into the hole in the left side of the cylinder block to lock the counterbalance shaft.

Secure the oil pump driven gear onto the left counterbalance shaft by tightening the flange bolt to the specified torque.
1. Tightening torque: 36 +/- 3 N.m (27 +/- 2 ft-lb)
Pull out the screwdriver and screw in the plug.
