Valves & Cylinder Heads Removal & Installation: Removal

- Relieve fuel pressure according to FUEL PRESSURE RELIEF PROCEDURE .
- Disconnect negative (-) cable at battery.
- Drain engine oil.
- Drain coolant referring to COOLANT DRAINING .
- Remove CMP sensor, camshaft and valve lash adjuster. Refer to CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
for CMP sensor removal and CAMSHAFTS & VALVE LASH ADJUSTERS REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
for camshaft and valve lash adjuster removal.
Install CMP sensor. Refer to CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
- Remove exhaust manifold referring to EXHAUST MANIFOLD REMOVAL & INSTALLATION .
- Remove water outlet cap.
- Loosen cylinder head bolts in such order ("1" "8") as shown in the figure and remove them.NOTE: Be sure to remove 2 hex bolts (1) shown in the figure.
- Remove cylinder heads.
