Rear Differential Dismounting & Remounting: Remounting

  1. Clean mating surfaces of rear axle and differential assembly and apply sealant to axle side evenly.
    1. "A":  Sealant 99000-31110

  2. Install differential assembly to axle and fix it with nuts (1) tightened to specified torque (for H25 engine model). Install differential assembly to axle and fix it with bolts (1) tightened to specified torque (for H27 engine model).

    Tightening torque 

    1. Differential carrier bolt (a):  55 N.m (5.5 kg-m, 40.0 lb-ft)

  3. Install propeller shaft to joint flange aligning match marks and torque flange nuts for H25 engine model or bolts for H27 engine model to specification. Apply thread lock cement to thread part of bolt if reused (for H27 engine model).

    "A":  Thread lock cement 99000-32110

    Tightening torque 

    1. Propeller shaft flange nut (a):  50 N.m (5.0 kg-m, 36.5 lb-ft) (For H25 engine model)
    2. Propeller shaft flange nut (a):  60 N.m (6.0 kg-m, 43.5 lb-ft) (For H27 engine model)

  4. Install right and left rear axle shafts and drums. See REAR AXLE BEARINGS & OIL SEAL (GRAND VITARA, VITARA & XL-7) .
  5. Install wheels.
  6. Fill hypoid gear oil as specified and tighten plug to specification.
  7. Lower lift.
