Removal & Installation (3.2L & 3.5L)

NOTE:
Removal of fuel injectors requires removal of intake manifold.
- Relieve fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove engine cover. Disconnect power brake booster vacuum hose. Disconnect MAP sensor, EVAP solenoid valve, IAC valve, TP sensor, and EGR valve harness connectors. Disconnect ION sensing module harness connectors. Disconnect vacuum hose on EVAP canister VSV and PCV ventilation hose.
- Remove ION sensing module. Remove 4 bolts securing throttle valve to intake manifold. Remove EGR valve nut and bolt. Remove 2 bolts at rear of intake manifold and remove fuel hose bracket. Remove remaining intake manifold nuts and bolts. Remove intake manifold.
- Lift up fuel rail with fuel injectors. Unless fuel injectors are to be replaced, DO NOT separate fuel injectors from fuel rail. Drain residual fuel into appropriate container.
- Remove fuel injector retainer clip. Remove fuel injector assembly. Remove "O" rings from injector. See Fig 1.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Install NEW "O" rings on injector and lube with engine oil. Install injector into fuel rail using NEW retainer clips. Coat end of injector with engine oil. Install fuel rail. Install intake manifold. Tighten nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
