Diagnostic Procedure

  1. If air bag diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If air bag diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSTICS.
  2. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If any DTC is displayed, perform diagnostic procedure for appropriate DTC. If no DTCs are displayed, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. If driver-side or passenger-side air bag module has not deployed, go to next step. If driver-side or passenger-side air bag module has deployed, perform inspections and repairs required following a collision. See POST-COLLISION INSPECTION .
  4. Inspect front of vehicle and undercarriage for signs of impact. If any sign of impact is present, go to POST-COLLISION INSPECTION . If no sign of impact is present, replace SDM. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step.
  5. Reconnect all air bag system components. Using scan tool, clear all DTCs. Go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSTICS.
