Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Suzuki XL-7. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Pull top of glove box outward while depressing stops. Allow glove box to fall toward passenger seat. Disengage Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip and disconnect passenger-side air bag module connector. See Figure.
  2. Connect STEERING WHEEL connector of Load Tool (09932-75010) to harness side of passenger-side air bag module connector using Load Tool Adapter (09932-78340). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If DTC B1019 is current, go to next step. If DTC B1019 is not current, replace passenger-side air bag module. See PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect load tool. Disconnect SDM harness connector. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and SDM connector terminal No. 7 (Yellow/Red wire). See Figure. If voltage is one volt or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than one volt, repair short to voltage in Yellow/Red wire. See WIRE REPAIR .
  4. Measure voltage between ground and SDM connector terminal No. 8 (Yellow wire). If voltage is one volt or less, substitute a known-good SDM and retest system. If voltage is more than one volt, repair short to voltage in Yellow wire. See WIRE REPAIR . Reconnect all components. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSTICS.
