Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Suzuki XL-7. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Access and inspect air bag monitor connector. See Figure. If jumper wire is connected, remove jumper wire and reconnect connector. If connector is connected, go to next step.
  2. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect SDM connector. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between ground and SDM connector terminal No. 15 (Purple wire). See Figure. If resistance is infinite, substitute a known-good SDM and retest system. If resistance is not infinite, repair short to ground in Purple wire. Reconnect all components. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSTICS.
