Diagnostic Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Suzuki Grand Vitara. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- If AIR BAG warning light flashes DTCs after flashing 7 times, go to next step. If AIR BAG warning light does not flash DTCs after flashing 7 times, substitute a know good SDM and retest system.
- Turn ignition off. Access and inspect air bag monitor connector. See Figure. If jumper wire is connected, remove jumper wire. If jumper wire is not connected, go to next step.
- Disconnect SDM connector. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between ground and SDM connector terminal No. 30 (Purple wire). See Figure. If resistance is 1000 ohms or more, substitute a known-good SDM and retest system. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair short to ground in Purple wire. Reconnect all components. Using scan tool, clear DTCs.
