Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Remove left kick panel and disconnect Yellow seat belt pretensioner connector. Connect STEERING WHEEL connector of Load Tool (09932-75010) to harness side of pretensioner connector. Turn ignition on. Retrieve DTCs. If DTC B1043 is current, go to next step. If DTC B1043 is not current, replace seat belt pretensioner. See SEAT BELT PRETENSIONERS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect load tool. Disconnect SDM connector. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between ground and SDM connector terminal No. 11 (White wire). See Figure. If resistance is infinite (open circuit), substitute a known-good SDM and retest. If resistance is not infinite, repair short to ground in White wire. Reconnect all components. Clear DTCs. See DIAGNOSTICS . Repeat AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
