Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Disconnect left and right seat belt pretensioner harness connectors located behind respective kick panels. Disconnect right forward sensor. See FORWARD SENSORS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance across forward sensor terminals. If resistance is 738-905 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 738-905 ohms, replace forward sensor.
  2. Reconnect forward sensor. Disconnect SDM connector. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between SDM connector terminals No. 13 (Yellow-Green wire) and No. 14 (Yellow-Blue wire). See Figure. If resistance is infinite (open circuit), repair open in Yellow-Green wire or Yellow-Blue wire between SDM and forward sensor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If resistance is not infinite (open circuit), go to next step.
  3. Disconnect forward sensor. Measure resistance between ground and SDM connector terminals No. 13 (Yellow-Green wire) and No. 14 (Yellow-Blue wire). If resistance is infinite (open circuit), substitute a known-good SDM and retest. If resistance is not infinite (open circuit), repair short to ground in Yellow-Green wire or Yellow-Blue wire. Reconnect all components. Activate air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Clear DTCs. See DIAGNOSTICS . Repeat AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
