Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Pull top of glove box outward while depressing stops. Allow glove box to fall toward passenger seat. Disengage CPA clip and disconnect Yellow connector for passenger-side air bag module. See Figure.
  2. Connect STEERING WHEEL connector of Load Tool (09932-75010) to harness side of passenger-side air bag module connector. Turn ignition on. Retrieve DTCs. If DTC B1018 is current, go to next step. If DTC B1018 is not current, replace passenger-side air bag module. See PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect load tool. Disconnect SDM harness connector. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between ground and SDM connector terminal No. 7 (Yellow-Red wire). See Figure. If resistance is infinite (open circuit), go to next step. If resistance is zero ohm (short circuit), repair short to ground in Yellow-Red wire.
  4. Measure resistance between ground and SDM connector terminal No. 8 (Yellow wire). If resistance is infinite (open circuit), substitute a known-good SDM and retest. If resistance is zero ohm (short circuit), repair short to ground in Yellow wire. Reconnect all components. Clear DTCs. See DIAGNOSTICS . Repeat AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
