Disabling Air Bag System (Nubira)

  1. Before proceeding, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS . Turn steering wheel to place vehicle wheels in straight-ahead position. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and remove key. Remove air bag fuse from fuse panel. See Fig 1. Wait at least 10 minutes for energy capacitor in SRS control unit to discharge. Remove instrument panel lower cover. See Fig 2. Disconnect Yellow wire harness-to-clockspring electrical connector located on lower steering column.
  2. Remove glove box. Disconnect passenger-side air bag module connector. See Fig 3. Remove driver and passenger-side lower "B" pillar trim panels. Disconect driver and passenger-side seat belt pretensioner electrical connectors. See Fig 4. System is now disabled.
