Fuel Gauge

On Swift, remove rear seat for access to fuel gauge sending unit connector. On Grand Vitara, Vitara and XL7, remove rear bumper facing to access sending unit connector. On all models, disconnect harness connector from fuel gauge sending unit. Connect a 12-volt, 3.4-watt bulb (light) between ground and Blue/White wire (Grand Vitara, Vitara and XL7), Pink/Blue wire (Esteem) or Yellow/Red wire (Swift) at fuel gauge sending unit harness connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Ensure bulb lights and fuel gauge needle fluctuates several seconds later. If fuel gauge does not function as specified, check fuses, wiring, connectors and instrument panel circuit board. If these components check okay, replace fuel gauge.
