Free-Wheeling Hub (4WD): Removal

  1. For automatic hubs, set hub to FREE. Set transfer gear shift lever to 2H position and slowly move vehicle backward at least 6.5' (2 m).
  2. Remove free-wheeling hub cover mounting bolts. Remove free-wheeling hub body as an assembly by sliding off of axle shaft and away from hub. See Figure.
