Test Description

Diagnosing DTCs in correct order is important. Failure to diagnose DTCs in order specified may result in extended diagnostic time, incorrect diagnosis and incorrect part replacement.

NOTE: Following step references refer to test step numbers on diagnostic chart. See Fig 1 . For circuit number and wire color identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  1. An open air bag fuse would cause AIR BAG warning lamp to come on steady.
  2. A disconnected SDM harness connector will cause AIR BAG warning lamp to come on steady via shorting bar from terminal No. A7 to terminal A6 (ground).
  3. This test checks for open in IGNITION circuit to SDM.
  4. This test checks for short from AIR BAG warning lamp circuit to ground.
  5. This test checks if a short to ground caused AIR BAG fuse to open.
  6. This test determines if short to ground is due to short in wiring.
