Cylinder Head: Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Use NEW head and manifold gaskets. Tighten cylinder head bolts to 39 ft. lbs (53 N.m) using proper sequence. See Fig 1 .
  2. Increase cylinder head bolt torque to 62 ft. lbs (84 N.m) using proper sequence. Now LOOSEN all bolts until torque is reduced to zero (0). See Figure
  3. Now tighten cylinder head bolts to 27 ft. lbs (37 N.m) using proper sequence. See Fig 1 . Finish tightening cylinder head bolts to 77 ft. lbs. (105 N.m). Tighten the 6-mm bolt on side of cylinder head to 97 INCH lbs. (11 N.m).
