Front Wheel Bearings: Removal

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel assembly. On models with locking hubs, remove locking hub. See LOCKING HUBS article in DRIVE AXLES. On models without locking hubs, remove cap from hub.
  2. On all models, remove 4 bearing lock plate screws. Remove brake caliper and wire aside. DO NOT disconnect lines from brake calipers. Remove bearing lock nut and lock washer. Remove hub assembly. Remove oil seal from hub. Remove bearing circlip. Using brass drift and hammer, drive bearing race from hub (if replacement is required).
