Front & Rear Differential Assemblies: Reassembly

1. On rear differentials, install rear wheel anti-lock brake exciter ring to differential left case using Exciter Ring Installer (09928-26010), Differential Side Bearing Remover (09913-85230) and press. Pressure exerted on exciter ring should not exceed 1102 lbs. (500 kg).
2. Ensure press fit is applied evenly around perimeter of exciter ring. Install wheel speed sensor. On front and rear differentials, install differential pinion gears, thrust washers and left side gear with selective shim in differential case. See Fig 1 .

3. Using dial indicator, measure differential side gear end play. See Fig 2 . If end play is not .005-.014" (.13-.36 mm), select another shim to obtain specified end play.

4. Install spring pin into differential case until flush with case surface. Install right differential side gear, selective shim and ring gear to differential case.
   NOTE: After proper end play is obtained, apply Loctite to ring gear bolts.
5. Tighten ring gear bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS. Using dial indicator and Magnetic Stand (09900-20701), measure differential side gear end play. See Fig 3 . If end play is not .005-.014" (.13-.36 mm), select another shim to obtain specified end play. Using Bearing Installer (09944-66020) with Bearing Holder (09951-16060), install differential left and right side bearings.

NOTE: DO NOT install pinion oil seal and spacer.
