Contact Coil & Combination Switch: Removal

- Before proceeding, read air bag service precautions section. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS . Disable the SRS system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Contact coil and combination switch is located under steering wheel, in steering column. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Remove hole cover and knee bolster panel. Remove screws and upper and lower steering column trim covers. Loosen clamp, remove band binding steering column and harness for contact coil and combination switch assembly. Disconnect Yellow air bag connector and White auto cruise connector (if equipped). Disconnect 3 connectors for contact coil and combination switch wire harness from junction/fuse block. Remove contact coil and combination switch assembly from steering column.
