Engine Identification

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1991 Suzuki Swift, 1991 Suzuki Sidekick, and 1991 Suzuki Samurai. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: For engine repair procedures not covered in this article, see ENGINE OVERHAUL PROCEDURES - GENERAL INFORMATION article in the GENERAL INFORMATION section.

Engine code is stamped on rear portion of cylinder block at bellhousing (horizontal to oil filter). The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is stamped on a metal tag. On Samurai and Sidekick, tag is attached to left side of instrument panel near pillar. On Swift, tag is attached to top of instrument panel on driver's side. The sixth character of the VIN identifies engine model.
