Valve Clearance Adjustment
NOTE:
Swift DOHC engines has automatic valve lash adjusters. No adjustment is required.
- Ensure engine has reached normal operating temperature. Place No. 1 piston at TDC position. Remove distributor cap. Ensure rotor is pointing toward No. 1 distributor terminal.
- If rotor is not correctly positioned, rotate crankshaft clockwise 360 degrees until No. 1 piston is at TDC of compression stroke. Remove rocker arm cover.
- Loosen adjustment screw lock nut. Adjust intake and exhaust valves of No. 1 cylinder, intake valve of No. 2 cylinder and exhaust valve of No. 3 cylinder. Rotate crankshaft 360 degrees clockwise.
- Adjust intake valves of cylinder No. 3 and cylinder No. 4. Adjust exhaust valves of cylinder No. 2 and cylinder No. 4. Tighten adjusting screw lock nuts. Install rocker arm cover.
