Removal (1.3L & 1.6L SOHC)

  1. Remove cooling fan and clutch. Remove fan shroud. Remove water pump pulley and belt. Discharge A/C system and disconnect compressor flexible suction hose from suction pipe (if equipped).
  2. Remove timing belt cover. Move timing belt tensioner up and secure. Remove timing belt from camshaft sprocket. Remove camshaft sprocket and crankshaft pulley.
  3. Mark belt with an arrow indicating direction of rotation for installation reference and remove timing belt. Remove crankshaft sprocket bolts. Remove crankshaft sprocket and flange. Remove timing belt tensioner.
