Removal (Samurai and Sidekick)

  1. Remove cylinder head. See appropriate CYLINDER HEAD section. Remove rocker arms and shafts. See ROCKER ARMS & SHAFTS (EXCEPT SWIFT)  .
  2. Remove camshaft sprocket. See Figure . Remove distributor and distributor case. Remove alternator. Remove crankshaft pulley. Remove rocker cover, rocker arms and shafts.
  3. Loosen timing belt tensioner and secure. Remove timing belt from camshaft sprocket only. Remove camshaft sprocket. Remove camshaft from head.
