DTC B1502: Warning Box Communication Malfunction

DTC detecting condition: 

Communication failure between the combination meter and the center information display failure.

Trouble symptom: 

Malfunction of the warning light inside the center information display.

Wiring diagram: 

Audio and navigation system Ref. to WIRING SYSTEM>AUDIO AND NAVIGATION SYSTEM>WIRING DIAGRAM .

CAUTION: Before performing diagnosis, refer to "CAUTION" in "General Description". Ref. to COMBINATION METER (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
  1. CHECK POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT  .

    Turn the ignition switch to ON, and make sure that the combination meter operates properly.

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes  : Go to  2.

    No  : Check the combination meter power supply circuit.

  2. CHECK DTC  .

    Read the DTC of [Combination Meter] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to COMBINATION METER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    Is DTC B1502 displayed? (Current malfunction)

    Yes  : Go to  3.

    No  : Go to  6.

  3. CHECK COMMUNICATION CIRCUIT (HARNESS)  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Disconnect the combination meter connector.
    3. Disconnect the cockpit control module connector.
    4. Using the tester, measure the resistance between the combination meter connector and the cockpit control module connector.

      Connector & terminal 

      (i97) No. 12 - (i101) No. 5:

    Is the resistance 10 Ω or less?

    Yes  : Go to  4.

    No  : Repair the short or open circuit of the harness.

  4. CHECK CONNECTOR  .

    Check for poor contact of the connectors (i97, i101) between the combination meter and the cockpit control module.

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes  : Repair or replace the poor contact of connector.

    No  : Go to  5.

  5. CHECK COCKPIT CONTROL MODULE  .

    Perform the inspection according to the diagnosis for the cockpit control module. Ref. to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes  : Go to  6.

    No  : Replace the cockpit control module. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>COCKPIT DISPLAY .

  6. CHECK COMMUNICATION CIRCUIT (HARNESS)  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Disconnect the cockpit control module connector.
    3. Disconnect the center information display connector.
    4. Using a tester, measure the resistance between the cockpit control module connector and the center information display connector.

      Connector & terminal 

      (Ad9) No. 8 - (Ad11) No. 1:

    Is the resistance 10 Ω or less?

    Yes  : Go to  7.

    No  : Repair the short or open circuit of the harness.

  7. CHECK CONNECTOR  .

    Check for poor contact of the connectors (Ad9, Ad11) between the cockpit control module and center information display.

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes  : Perform the diagnosis for center information display. Ref. to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .

    No  : Repair or replace the poor contact of connector.
