Cold Air Does Not Come Out Even When The A/C Button Is Pressed; The Glass Cannot Be Defogged. (Compressor Does Not Operate.)
Trouble symptom:
Compressor does not operate after turning the ON/OFF button to ON and airflow capacity between minimum - maximum.
Trouble causes:
Compressor failure
- CHECK CENTER INFORMATION DISPLAY
.
- Leave the vehicle under the condition at ambient temperature of 15°C (59°F) or more.
- Start the engine.
- Set the airflow capacity to maximum.
- Set the A/C button to ON.
Is the A/C button display on the center information display ON?
Yes: Go to 2.
No: Perform the inspection according to the diagnosis for cockpit control system. Ref. to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE>PROCEDURE .
- CHECK A/C CONTROL MODULE
.
Using the Subaru Select Monitor, check the following items in the [Data Monitor] of [Air Conditioner]. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .
- Blower Fan Level
Does [Blower Fan Level] indicate 120 - 181?
Yes: Go to 3.
No: Replace the A/C control module. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>CONTROL UNIT .
- CHECK VARIABLE FLOW CHANGE SOLENOID DUTY VALUE
.
- Keep the ON/OFF button set to ON.
- Using the Subaru Select Monitor, check the following items in the [Data Monitor] of [Air Conditioner]. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .
- Variable Flow Change Solenoid Duty
Does the display indicate the value greater than 0%?
Yes: Go to 7.
No: Go to 4.
- CHECK EVAPORATOR SENSOR
.
Using the Subaru Select Monitor, check the following items in the [Data Monitor] of [Air Conditioner]. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .
- Evaporator Temperature
Does the display indicate 3°C (37.4°F) or more?
Yes: Go to 6.
No: Go to 5.
- CHECK EVAPORATOR SENSOR
.
Check the evaporator sensor. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>EVAPORATOR SENSOR>INSPECTION .
Is the check result OK?
Yes: Go to 6.
No: Replace the evaporator sensor. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>EVAPORATOR SENSOR .
- CHECK REFRIGERANT PRESSURE SENSOR
.
Using the Subaru Select Monitor, check the following items in the [Data Monitor] of [Air Conditioner]. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .
- Refrigerant Pressure
Does the display indicate 0.225 - 2.94 MPa?
Yes: Go to 8.
No: Go to 7.
- CHECK AMOUNT OF REFRIGERANT PRESSURE
.
Check the refrigerant pressure. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>REFRIGERANT PRESSURE WITH MANIFOLD GAUGE SET .
Is the check result OK?
Yes: Go to 8.
No: Perform repair according to refrigerant pressure inspection.
- CHECK VARIABLE SOLENOID CIRCUIT
.
- Set the airflow capacity to maximum.
- Set the A/C button to ON.
- Set the temperature setting to MAX COOL. (Driver's side, passenger's side)
- Leave it for 30 seconds or more.
- Read the DTC of [Air Conditioner] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
Is DTC B14A7 displayed? (Current code)
Yes: Perform the diagnosis for the displayed DTC B14A7. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE WITH DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>DTC B14A7 VARIABLE SOLENOID VALVE CIRCUIT .
No: Replace the compressor. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>COMPRESSOR .
