DTC B2A00: VIN Reading

Diagnosis start condition :

When ignition switch is ON.

DTC detecting condition :

When ignition switch is ON, VIN information (CAN) sent from ECM cannot be read.

Trouble symptom :

Telematics function cannot be used.
RED LED illuminates.

Failure detection pattern :

"Primary" (high-priority diagnosis)

Warning light/indicator light :

Both ON -
GREEN LED ON -
GREEN LED blinks -
RED LED ONO
RED LED blinks -
Both OFF -

CAUTION:

After the DCM is replaced, registrations of CommCheck and immobilizer system are required. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>TELEMATICS SYSTEM>OPERATION>REGISTRATION (COMM CHECK) .
Before performing diagnosis, refer to "CAUTION" in "General Description". Ref. to TELEMATICS SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .

CHECK DTC .
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
2. Read the DTC of [Telematics] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to TELEMATICS SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
Is DTC B2A00 displayed? (Current code)

Yes : GO TO 2.

No : Even if DTC is displayed, the circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time.

Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.

NOTE: In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, temporary open or short circuit of harness may be the cause.
CHECK DTC .
Read the following DTCs using Subaru Select Monitor.
- Telematics Ref. to TELEMATICS SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
- Engine Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO 2.5)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO 2.0)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
Is DTC U**** displayed? (Current code)

Yes : Perform the diagnosis for LAN system. Ref. to LAN SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE>PROCEDURE .

No : GO TO 3.
CHECK DATA MONITOR .
Confirm VIN information from the engine OBD mode. Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H 2.0)>GENERAL SCAN TOOL>OPERATION>MODE $09 (REQUEST VEHICLE INFORMATION) . Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO 2.5)>General Scan Tool OPERATION>MODE $09 (REQUEST VEHICLE INFORMATION) .

Is VIN information displayed?

Yes : Replace the DCM. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>DATA COMMUNICATION MODULE .

No : Register VIN and turn the ignition switch to OFF, GO TO 4.
CHECK DATA MONITOR .
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
2. Confirm VIN information from the engine OBD mode. Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO 2.0)>GENERAL SCAN TOOL OPERATION>MODE $09 (REQUEST VEHICLE INFORMATION) . Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO 2.5)>GENERAL SCAN TOOL>OPERATION>MODE $09 (REQUEST VEHICLE INFORMATION) .
Is VIN information displayed?

Yes : GO TO 5.

No : Replace the ECM. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) .
CHECK DTC .
Read the DTC of [Telematics] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to TELEMATICS SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

Is DTC B2A00 displayed? (Current code)

Yes : Replace the DCM. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>DATA COMMUNICATION MODULE .

No : Finish the diagnosis.
