TFT LCD Display Freezes And Does Not Accept Any Operation Entry

Probable cause  :

External device malfunction/influence, unit body or cockpit control module (meter rendering) malfunction.

1. BASIC INSPECTION  .

   Before performing the diagnosis, perform basic inspection. Ref. to COMBINATION METER (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>INSPECTION .

   NOTE:

   • Check the battery and its installation condition.
   • Check the related fuse.
   • Visually check that the related connectors are properly connected.

     Also, check the related ground terminal for looseness and corrosion.

   Is the check result OK?

   Yes  : GO TO  2.

   No  : Repair the defective part.

2. CHECK RESTARTING DISPLAY  .
   1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
   2. Wait for at least 3 minutes after the combination display turned off.
   3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

   Is the screen freeze eliminated?

   Yes  : GO TO  6.

   No  : GO TO  3.

3. REMOVE OTHER MEDIA OR EXTERNAL DEVICES  .

   Remove the external devices connected to CD, USB or Bluetooth.

   Is the screen freeze eliminated?

   Yes  : GO TO  4.

   No  : GO TO  7.

4. CHECK OTHER EXTERNAL DEVICE CONNECTION  .

   To identify the faulty external device, individually connect the external devices that were disconnected when the screen freeze was eliminated.

   Was the external device identified?

   Yes  : GO TO  5.

   No  : GO TO  6.

5. CHECK OTHER EXTERNAL DEVICE CONNECTION  .
   1. Replace the identified device with the one that has the same performance.
   2. Turn the ignition switch to ACC.

   Does the screen freeze occur?

   Yes  : Replace the combination meter. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>COMBINATION METER .

   After replacement, GO TO  9.

   No  : The external device may be defective.

   After the repair, GO TO  9.

6. CHECK OPERATION PROCEDURE  .
   1. Ask the user how the screen was operated when the screen freeze occurred.
   2. Operate in the same operation procedure.

   Does the screen freeze occur?

   Yes  : GO TO  7.

   No  : The circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.

   After the repair, GO TO  9.

7. CHECK ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITION  .

   Check if any external device which emits strong electromagnetic waves and noises, such as a radio antenna, is installed inside the vehicle.

   Is there an external device?

   Yes  : Remove the external device,

   GO TO  3.

   If the fault is not fixed,

   GO TO  8.

   No  : GO TO  8.

8. INITIALIZE COCKPIT CONTROL MODULE  .

   Initialize the cockpit control module. Ref. to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>WORK SUPPORT .

   Is the screen freeze eliminated?

   Yes  : GO TO  6.

   If the screen freeze occurs again, replace the combination meter. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>COMBINATION METER .

   After replacement, GO TO  9.

   No  : Replace the combination meter. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>COMBINATION METER .

   After replacement, GO TO  9.

9. CHECK REPAIR  .

   Perform operation check to check if the trouble has been solved.

   Is the check result OK?

   Yes  : Finish the diagnosis.

   No  : Perform the diagnosis according to the basic diagnostic procedure. Ref. to COMBINATION METER (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE>PROCEDURE .
