Front Fog Light Indicator Does Not Illuminate

Trouble causes  :

• CAN communication failure
• Body integrated unit malfunction
• Combination meter malfunction
• Front fog light system circuit malfunction

1. BASIC INSPECTION  .

   Before performing the diagnosis, perform basic inspection. Ref. to COMBINATION METER (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>INSPECTION .

   NOTE:

   • Check the battery and its installation condition.
   • Check the related fuse.
   • Visually check that the related connectors are properly connected.

     Also, check the related ground terminal for looseness and corrosion.

   Is the check result OK?

   Yes  : GO TO  2.

   No  : Repair the defective part.

2. CHECK DTC  .
   1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
   2. Read the following DTCs using Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Ref. to FRONT RELAY CONTROL MODULE (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
      • Body Control
      • Front Relay Control Module

   Are any DTCs displayed? (Current code)

   Yes  : Perform the diagnosis for the displayed DTCs. Ref. to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>LIST . Ref. to FRONT RELAY CONTROL MODULE (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>LIST .

   After the repair, GO TO  7.

   No  : GO TO  3.

3. CHECK DTC  .
   1. Start the engine.
   2. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, read all DTCs. Ref. to LAN SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

   Is DTC of U-code displayed? (Current code)

   Yes  : Perform the diagnosis according to the basic diagnostic procedure in LAN SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS). Ref. to LAN SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .

   After the repair, GO TO  7.

   No  : GO TO  4.

4. CHECK THE FRONT FOG LIGHT INDICATOR  .

   Using the Subaru Select Monitor, check the following items in the [Active Test] of [Combination Meter]. Ref. to COMBINATION METER (DIAGNOSTICS)>ACTIVE TEST .

   • Front fog light indicator

   Do the indication on Subaru Select Monitor and the front fog light indicator indication match?

   Yes  : GO TO  5.

   No  : Replace the combination meter. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>COMBINATION METER .

   After replacement, GO TO  7.

5. CHECK DATA MONITOR FOR BODY INTEGRATED UNIT  .

   Using the Subaru Select Monitor, check the following items in the [Data Monitor] of [Body Control]. Ref. to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .

   • Front Fog Light SW input

   Do the switch operation and data indication match?

   Yes  : GO TO  6.

   No  : Check the front fog light system. Ref. to LIGHTING SYSTEM>FRONT FOG LIGHT SYSTEM>INSPECTION .

   After the repair, GO TO  7.

6. CHECK DATA MONITOR OF Front relay control module  .

   Using the Subaru Select Monitor, check the following items in the [Data Monitor] of [Front Relay Control Module]. Ref. to FRONT RELAY CONTROL MODULE (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .

   • F Fog Light Request

   Does the switch operation change the data display?

   Yes  : Replace Front relay control module. Ref. to BODY CONTROL/COMMUNICATION SYSTEM>FRONT RELAY CONTROL MODULE .

   After replacement, GO TO  7.

   No  : Replace the body integrated unit. Ref. to BODY CONTROL/COMMUNICATION SYSTEM>BODY INTEGRATED UNIT .

   After replacement, GO TO  7.

7. CHECK REPAIR  .

   Perform operation check to check if the trouble has been solved.

   Is the check result OK?

   Yes  : Finish the diagnosis.

   No  : Perform the diagnosis according to the basic diagnostic procedure. Ref. to COMBINATION METER (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE>PROCEDURE .
