Combination Meter System: Inspection: Trouble Symptom

Illumination intensity does not change even when the illumination control switch is operated.

1. CHECK DATA MONITOR  .
   1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
   2. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, display the following items in the [Data monitor] of [Combination Meter]. Ref. to COMBINATION METER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .
      • [Bright switch input state]
      • [Illumination control switch input state]

   Do the display change as [OFF] ←→ [ON] and the value range from 0 to 100 when the bright switch and illumination control switch are operated?

   Yes  : Replace the combination meter assembly. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>COMBINATION METER .

   No  : GO TO  2.

2. CHECK ILLUMINATION CONTROL SWITCH UNIT  .
   1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
   2. Check the illumination control switch. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>SWITCHES AND HARNESS>INSPECTION>ILLUMINATION CONTROL SWITCH .

   Is the switch normal?

   Yes  : GO TO  3.

   No  : Replace the illumination control switch. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>SWITCHES AND HARNESS .

3. CHECK HARNESS  .
   1. Disconnect the connectors of combination meter assembly and illumination control switch.
   2. Measure the resistance between the combination meter assembly and the illumination control switch.

   (i97) No. 32 - (i139) No. 1:

   Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

   Yes  : Replace the combination meter assembly. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>COMBINATION METER .

   No  : Repair or replace the defective part.
