Rear Seat Belt Warning Light

Trouble symptom: 

Rear seat belt warning light does not illuminate  .

  1. CHECK DATA MONITOR  .
    1. Using Subaru Select Monitor, select [Data monitor] and display the data of [Rear side (right) seat belt state], [Rear side (center) seatbelt state] and [Rear side (left) seat belt state]. Ref. to COMBINATION METER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .
    2. Fasten and detach the rear seat belt buckle at each position, and read the data of the seat belt switch.

    Does the seat belt switch display vary according to the operation of the seat belt buckle?

    Yes:  Go to  2.

    No:  Go to  3.

  2. CHECK FUNCTION  .

    Check if the rear seat belt warning light in the center information display illuminate.

    Does the rear seat belt warning light blink or go off?

    Yes:  It may be a temporary poor contact. Check the contacting condition of harness and connector.

    No:  Go to  3.

  3. CHECK HARNESS  .
    1. Disconnect the connectors of the combination meter, the body integrated unit, and the rear seat belt buckle switch.
    2. Check for battery short, open circuits, and short to ground between harnesses.

      (B73) No. 2 - (L69) No. 6:

    Is harness normal?

    Yes:  Go to  4.

    No:  Repair or replace the harness.

  4. CHECK HARNESS  .

    Measure the resistance between the rear seat belt buckle switch connector and chassis ground.

    Connector & terminal 

    RH: 

    (R69) No. 2 - Chassis ground:

    CTR: 

    (L69) No. 3 - Chassis ground:

    LH: 

    (L69) No. 4 - Chassis ground:

    Is harness normal?

    Yes:  Go to  5.

    No:  Repair or replace the harness.

  5. CHECK REAR SEAT SEATING SENSOR  .

    Perform unit inspection for the rear seat seating sensor. Ref. to SEAT BELT SYSTEM>REAR SEAT BELT>INSPECTION>CHECK SEATING SENSOR MAT .

    Does the rear seat seating sensor operate normally?

    Yes:  Go to  6.

    No:  Replace the rear seat seating sensor mat together with the seat cushion pad.

  6. CHECK REAR SEAT BELT BUCKLE SWITCH  .

    Perform unit inspection for rear seat belt switches. Ref. to SEAT BELT SYSTEM>REAR SEAT BELT>INSPECTION .

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes:  System is normal. It may be a temporary poor contact. Check the contacting condition of harness and connector.

    No:  Replace the defective seat belt buckle switch.
