Roof Rail: Removal

CAUTION: Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
NOTE: Remove the stopper bolt first when removing the crossbar assembly only. (OUTBACK model)

  1. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  2. Remove the trim panel sub assembly. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>ROOF TRIM>REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the bolts (2 places) securing the curtain airbag module.
    CAUTION:
    • Do not remove the clips securing the curtain airbag module. If any of the clips are removed, the curtain airbag module may not deploy properly in collision.

      If the clip is removed, replace it with a new part.

    • Be careful not to damage the curtain airbag module during removal.

  4. Remove the nuts and remove the roof rail assembly.

  5. Remove the seal washer.
