Side impact sensor (center pillar)

CAUTION:
  • Refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" before handling the airbag system components. Ref. to  AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION  
  • Side impact sensor (under the rear center seat) for the airbag system is located under the front center of the rear seat cushion. Be careful not to apply strong impact to the sensor when working with the rear seat cushion removed. 
  1. Move the seat on the side where Side impact sensor (center pillar) will be removed to the front-most position.
    NOTE:

    This is to remove the seat belt retractor assembly. 

  2. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY
  3. Remove the cover side sill front Rr and the trim panel assembly B pillar LWR. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>LOWER INNER TRIM>REMOVAL
  4. Remove the seat belt retractor.
    1. Turn over the floor mat to disconnect the following connectors.
    2. Remove the bolt to remove the seat belt retractor.

  5. Remove the Side impact sensor (center pillar).
    1. Remove the nut, and remove the side impact sensor (center pillar).
    2. Disconnect the airbag connector. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>AIRBAG CONNECTOR>PROCEDURE>EACH IMPACT SENSOR
