DTC C1C53: VDC Control System

DTC detecting condition: 

When malfunction of the VDC control system is detected.

Trouble symptom: 

  1. CHECK DTC OF VDC  .

    Read the DTC of [Brake Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)

    Is DTC of VDC system displayed?

    Yes  : Perform the diagnosis according to the DTC. Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>LIST

    No  : Go to  2.

  2. CHECK DATA MONITOR  .

    Using the Subaru Select Monitor, read data of [Main Power Supply Voltage] in the [Data Monitor] of [Electric Brake Booster]. Ref. to ELECTRIC BRAKE BOOSTER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR 

    Is [Main Power Supply Voltage] 10 - 16 V?

    Yes  : Go to  3.

    No  : Perform the diagnosis for VDC. Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

  3. CHECK DATA MONITOR  .

    Using the Subaru Select Monitor, read data of [Master Cylinder Fluid Pressure Status], [Vehicle Speed Status] in the [Data Monitor] of [Electric Brake Booster]. Ref. to ELECTRIC BRAKE BOOSTER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR 

    Do the [Master Cylinder Fluid Pressure Status] and [Vehicle Speed Status] display [Normal]?

    Yes  : Go to  4.

    No  : Perform the diagnosis for VDC. Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

  4. CHECK DATA MONITOR  .

    Using the Subaru Select Monitor, read data of [Master Cylinder Fluid Pressure] in the [Data Monitor] of [Electric Brake Booster]. Ref. to ELECTRIC BRAKE BOOSTER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR 

    Does the [Master Cylinder Fluid Pressure] change according to brake operation?

    Yes  : Go to  5.

    No  : Perform the diagnosis for VDC. Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

  5. CHECK ELECTRIC BRAKE BOOSTER CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR AND BOOSTER STROKE SENSOR CONNECTOR  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Check the connecting condition of the electric brake booster control module connector and booster stroke sensor connector.
    • Do the brake warning light (EBD warning light)/electronic parking brake warning light illuminate?
    • Is the current code recorded?

    Yes  : Repair or replace the connector or harness.

    No  : Go to  6.

  6. RECHECK DTC  .
    1. Connect all connectors.
    2. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the clear memory of [Electric Brake Booster]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>CLEAR MEMORY
    3. Read the DTC of [Electric Brake Booster] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to ELECTRIC BRAKE BOOSTER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) 

    Is DTC C1C53 displayed?

    Yes  : Replace the electric brake booster control module. Ref. to BRAKE>BRAKE BOOSTER

    No  : Currently, it is normal. Finish the diagnosis.
