DTC B2A00: VIN Reading

Diagnosis start condition:

When ignition switch is ON.

DTC detecting condition:

When ignition switch is ON, VIN information (CAN) sent from ECM cannot be read.

Trouble symptom:

Telematics function cannot be used.
RED LED illuminates.

CAUTION:

After the DCM is replaced, registrations of CommCheck and immobilizer system are required. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>TELEMATICS SYSTEM>OPERATION>REGISTRATION (COMM CHECK)
Before performing diagnosis, refer to "CAUTION" in "General Description". Ref. to TELEMATICS SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION

CHECK DTC .
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
2. Read the DTC of [Telematics] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to TELEMATICS SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)
Is DTC B2A00 displayed? (Current code)

Yes : Go to 2.

No : Even if DTC is displayed, the circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.

NOTE:
In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, temporary open or short circuit of harness may be the cause.
CHECK DTC .
Read the following DTCs using Subaru Select Monitor.
- Telematics Ref. to TELEMATICS SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)
- Engine Control System Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DOTC)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)
Is DTC U displayed? (Current code)

Yes : Perform the diagnosis for LAN system. Ref. to LAN SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

No : Go to 3.
CHECK DATA MONITOR .
Confirm VIN information from the engine OBD mode. Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DOTC)>GENERAL SCAN TOOL>OPERATION>MODE $09 (REQUEST VEHICLE INFORMATION)

Is VIN information displayed?

Yes : Replace the DCM. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>DATA COMMUNICATION MODULE

No : Register VIN. Turn the ignition switch to OFF. Go to 4.
CHECK DATA MONITOR .
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
2. Confirm VIN information from the engine OBD mode. Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DOTC)>GENERAL SCAN TOOL>OPERATION>MODE $09 (REQUEST VEHICLE INFORMATION)
Is VIN information displayed?

Yes : Go to 5.

No : Replace the ECM. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DOTC)>ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM)
CHECK DTC .
Read the DTC of [Telematics] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to TELEMATICS SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)

Is DTC B2A00 displayed? (Current code)

Yes : Replace the DCM. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>DATA COMMUNICATION MODULE

No : Finish the diagnosis.
