Wiring diagram:
Combination meter system Ref. to WIRING SYSTEM>COMBINATION METER SYSTEM
- CHECK ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITION
.
Check if any external device which emits strong electromagnetic waves and noises, such as a radio antenna, is installed inside the vehicle.
Is there an external device?
Yes : Remove the external device to check the operation.
If the fault is not fixed:
Go to 2.
No : Go to 2.
- CHECK BATTERY
.
Check the battery. Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DOTC)>BATTERY>INSPECTION
Is the check result OK?
Yes : Go to 3.
No : Charge or replace the battery. Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DOTC)>BATTERY
- CHECK CONNECTOR
.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Check if the connector is connected to the combination meter and there is poor contact in the connector.
Is the check result OK?
Yes : Go to 4.
No : Engage the connector properly, or repair the faulty portion and check the operation.
- CHECK POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
.
- Disconnect the connector from the combination meter.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Use a tester to measure the voltage between the combination meter connector and chassis ground.NOTE:
Because a temporary open or short circuit may be the cause, shake the harness during this check process.
Connector & terminal
(i97) No. 1 (+) - Chassis ground (-):
(i97) No. 2 (+) - Chassis ground (-):
Is the voltage 9 - 16 V?
Yes : Go to 5.
No : Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.
- CHECK GROUND CIRCUIT (OPEN)
.
Use a tester to measure the resistance between the combination meter connector and ground.
NOTE:Because a temporary open or short circuit may be the cause, shake the harness during this check process.
Connector & terminal
(i97) No. 40 - Chassis ground:
Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?
Yes : Replace the combination meter. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>COMBINATION METER
No : Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.
