DTC B28BE: Vehicle Model Judgement (Communication)

DTC detecting condition:

When the vehicle model information registration for the stereo camera was performed incorrectly.
When each control module is not a genuine part.

Trouble symptom:

All functions of EyeSight system do not operate.
High beam assist does not operate.

CAUTION:

Before performing diagnosis, refer to "CAUTION" in "General Description". Ref. to EYESIGHT (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION

CHECK RELATED CONTROL MODULE .
Check the part numbers of the ECM, TCM, VDC Control Module, combination meter, EPS, RAB Control Module, body integrated unit.

Is each control module a genuine part?

Yes : Go to 2.

No : Replace the non-genuine control module with a genuine one.
CHECK STEREO CAMERA .
1. Remove the camera cover.
2. Check the part number of the stereo camera.
Is the stereo camera genuine?

Yes : Go to 3.

No : Replace the stereo camera. Ref. to EYESIGHT>STEREO CAMERA
CHECK LAN SYSTEM .
Perform the diagnosis for LAN system. Ref. to LAN SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE>PROCEDURE

Is the check result OK?

Yes : Go to 4.

No : Repair or replace the faulty portion according to the inspection result.
PERFORM WORK SUPPORT .
On [Work Support] screen, select [Confirm on parameter].

Are [Applied model] and [OP code] confirmation screens displayed?

Yes : Go to 5.

No : Select [Confirm on parameter] on the [Work Support] screen, and enter the applied model and option code indicated on the vehicle to register the vehicle information.

And then, Go to 6.
CHECK MODEL REGISTRATION INFORMATION .
Check [Applied model] and [OP code] displayed on the Subaru Select Monitor screen, and verify that they are appropriate for the concerned vehicle.

Are they appropriate for the concerned vehicle?

Yes : Go to 6.

No : Select [Selection of Parameter] on the [Work Support] screen, and enter the applied model and option code indicated on the vehicle to register the vehicle information.

And then, Go to 6.
CHECK DTC .
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF → ON.
2. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the clear memory of [EyeSight]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>CLEAR MEMORY
3. Read the DTC of [EyeSight] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to EYESIGHT (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)
Is DTC B28BE still a current code?

Yes : Go to 7.

No : Currently, it is normal. Finish the diagnosis.
CHECK FUSE .
Check fuses No. 19 and No. 22 in the fuse & relay box. Ref. to WIRING SYSTEM>EYESIGHT SYSTEM>WIRING DIAGRAM

Is the check result OK?

Yes : Go to 8.

No : Replace the defective fuse. When the replaced fuse blows out easily, check the short circuit in harness.
CHECK HARNESS (POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT) .
1. Disconnect the connector from the stereo camera.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
3. Using a tester, measure the voltage between connector of stereo camera and chassis ground.

  Battery power supply
  
  (Rf21) No. 10 (+) - Chassis ground (-):
  
  (Rf21) No. 23 (+) - Chassis ground (-):
  
  Ignition power supply
  
  (Rf21) No. 9 (+) - Chassis ground (-):
  
  (Rf21) No. 21 (+) - Chassis ground (-):
Is the voltage 10 V or more?

Yes : Go to 9.

No : Check the power supply system circuit, and if any fault is found, repair the defective parts or replace the harness.
CHECK HARNESS (GROUND CIRCUIT) .
1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
2. Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY
3. Using a tester, measure the resistance between stereo camera connector and chassis ground.

  (Rf21) No. 22 - Chassis ground:
Is the resistance less than 10 Ω?

Yes : Go to 10.

No : Check the ground system circuit, and if any fault is found, repair the defective parts or replace the harness.
CHECK POOR CONTACT OF CONNECTORS .
Check stereo camera connector.

Is there poor contact of connector?

Yes : Repair the connector.

No : Go to 11.
CHECK STEREO CAMERA .
1. Connect all connectors and battery terminals securely.
2. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the clear memory of [EyeSight]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>CLEAR MEMORY
3. Read the DTC of [EyeSight] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to EYESIGHT (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)
Is DTC B28BE displayed? (Current code)

Yes : Replace the stereo camera. Ref. to EYESIGHT>STEREO CAMERA

No : Currently, it is normal. Finish the diagnosis.
