DTC B2816: Brake Control Error

DTC detecting condition: 

• Defective VDC
• Defective CAN system

Trouble symptom: 

All functions of EyeSight system do not operate.

1. CHECK DTC  .

   Read the DTC of [EyeSight] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to EYESIGHT (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) 

   Is only DTC B2816 displayed? (Current code)

   Yes  : Go to  2.

   No  : Perform the diagnosis for the displayed DTCs other than DTC B2816. Ref. to EYESIGHT (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) 

2. CHECK DTC  .

   Read the DTC of [Brake Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)

   Is DTC (U-code) for communication error displayed? (Current code)

   Yes  : Perform the diagnosis for LAN system. Ref. to LAN SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE>PROCEDURE

   No  : Go to  3.

3. CHECK VDC  .

   Check the brake control. Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE>PROCEDURE

   Is the check result OK?

   Yes  : Go to  4.

   No  : Repair or replace the faulty portion according to the inspection result.

4. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST  .
   1. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the following items in the [Active Test] of [EyeSight]. Ref. to EYESIGHT (DIAGNOSTICS)>ACTIVE TEST 
      • Forced Boost 2 of VDC (Perform compulsory boost with the target value "0x03".)
   2. Read the DTC of [EyeSight] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to EYESIGHT (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) 

   Is DTC B28D7 displayed? (Current code)

   Yes  : Go to  5.

   No  : Currently, it is normal. Finish the diagnosis.

5. CHECK ALL BRAKE LINE CONNECTIONS  .

   Check all the brake line connections. Ref. to BRAKE>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>COMPONENT

   Is the check result OK?

   Yes  : Go to  6.

   No  : Repair or replace the faulty portion according to the inspection result.

   And then, Go to  6.

6. CHECK BRAKE BOOSTER  .

   Check the brake booster. Ref. to BRAKE>BRAKE BOOSTER>INSPECTION

   Is the check result OK?

   Yes  : Go to  7.

   No  : Repair or replace the faulty portion according to the inspection result.

   And then, Go to  7.

7. CHECK CALIPER  .

   Check the caliper. Ref. to BRAKE>FRONT DISC BRAKE ASSEMBLY>INSPECTION Ref. to BRAKE>REAR DISC BRAKE ASSEMBLY>INSPECTION

   Is the check result OK?

   Yes  : Go to  8.

   No  : Repair or replace the faulty portion according to the inspection result.

   And then, Go to  8.

8. CHECK HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT  .

   Check the hydraulic control unit. Ref. to VEHICLE DYNAMICS CONTROL (VDC)>VDC CONTROL MODULE AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (VDC CONTROL MODULE & H/U)>INSPECTION

   Is the check result OK?

   Yes  : Go to  9.

   No  : Repair or replace the faulty portion according to the inspection result.

   And then, Go to  9.

9. CHECK BRAKE  .

   Bleed air from brake system. Ref. to BRAKE>AIR BLEEDING>PROCEDURE>BRAKE LINE

   Is the check result OK?

   Yes  : Go to  10.

   No  : Repair or replace the faulty portion according to the inspection result.

   And then, Go to  10.

10. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST  .
    1. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the following items in the [Active Test] of [EyeSight]. Ref. to EYESIGHT (DIAGNOSTICS)>ACTIVE TEST 
       • Forced Boost 2 of VDC (Perform compulsory boost with the target value "0x03".)
    2. Read the DTC of [EyeSight] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to EYESIGHT (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) 

    Is DTC B28D7 displayed? (Current code)

    Yes  : Go to  11.

    No  : Currently, it is normal. Finish the diagnosis.

11. CHECK BRAKE BOOSTER  .

    Check the brake booster. Ref. to BRAKE>BRAKE BOOSTER>INSPECTION

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes  : Go to  12.

    No  : Repair or replace the faulty portion according to the inspection result.

    And then, Go to  12.

12. CHECK CALIPER  .

    Check the caliper. Ref. to BRAKE>FRONT DISC BRAKE ASSEMBLY>INSPECTION Ref. to BRAKE>REAR DISC BRAKE ASSEMBLY>INSPECTION

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes  : Go to  13.

    No  : Repair or replace the faulty portion according to the inspection result.

    And then, Go to  13.

13. CHECK HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT  .

    Check the hydraulic control unit. Ref. to VEHICLE DYNAMICS CONTROL (VDC)>VDC CONTROL MODULE AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (VDC CONTROL MODULE & H/U)>INSPECTION

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes  : Go to  10.

    No  : Repair or replace the faulty portion according to the inspection result.

    And then, Go to  10.
