DTC B1797: Occupant Detection Sensor Supplier Id And Function Id Mismatch
DTC detecting condition:
Detected when an occupant detection sensor of a different manufacturer or for a different vehicle manufacturer is mounted.
Failure detection pattern:
- "Primary" (high-priority diagnosis)
- CHECK BATTERY
.
Check the battery. Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DO)>BATTERY>INSPECTION .
Is the check result OK?
Yes: Go to 2.
No: Charge or replace the battery. And then, Go to 2.
- CHECK AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE
.
- Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the clear memory of [Airbag]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>CLEAR MEMORY .
- Execute the inspection mode. Ref. to AIRBAG (DIAGNOSTICS)>INSPECTION MODE .
- Read the DTC of [Airbag] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to AIRBAG (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
Is DTC B1797 displayed? (Current code)
Yes: Go to 3.
No: Go to 4.
- CHECK OCCUPANT DETECTION SENSOR

Check the serial ID on the side face of the occupant detection sensor.
1 Serial ID Are the last two digits EC or FC?
Yes: Replace the airbag control module. And then, Go to 4.
No: Replace the passenger's seat together with the occupant detection sensor. And then, Go to 4.
- CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTC ON DISPLAY

Read the DTC of [Airbag] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to AIRBAG (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
Is any other DTC displayed? (Current code)
Yes: Perform the diagnosis for the displayed DTCs. Ref. to AIRBAG (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>LIST .
No: Finish the diagnosis.
