DTC B1797: Occupant Detection Sensor Supplier Id And Function Id Mismatch

DTC detecting condition:

Detected when an occupant detection sensor of a different manufacturer or for a different vehicle manufacturer is mounted.

NOTE: This DTC is detected when a non-genuine occupant detection sensor is mounted. Replace with a genuine passenger's seat. Ref. to SEATS>FRONT SEAT .

Failure detection pattern:

"Primary" (high-priority diagnosis)

CAUTION: Before performing diagnosis, refer to "CAUTION" in "General Description". Ref. to AIRBAG (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .

CHECK BATTERY .
Check the battery. Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DO)>BATTERY>INSPECTION .

Is the check result OK?

Yes: Go to 2.

No: Charge or replace the battery. And then, Go to 2.
CHECK AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE .
1. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the clear memory of [Airbag]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>CLEAR MEMORY .
2. Execute the inspection mode. Ref. to AIRBAG (DIAGNOSTICS)>INSPECTION MODE .
3. Read the DTC of [Airbag] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to AIRBAG (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
Is DTC B1797 displayed? (Current code)

Yes: Go to 3.

No: Go to 4.
CHECK OCCUPANT DETECTION SENSOR .
Check the serial ID on the side face of the occupant detection sensor.

Are the last two digits EC or FC?

Yes: Replace the airbag control module. And then, Go to 4.

No: Replace the passenger's seat together with the occupant detection sensor. And then, Go to 4.
CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTC ON DISPLAY .
Read the DTC of [Airbag] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to AIRBAG (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

Is any other DTC displayed? (Current code)

Yes: Perform the diagnosis for the displayed DTCs. Ref. to AIRBAG (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>LIST .

No: Finish the diagnosis.
