DTC B224A: Backup Camera

DTC detecting condition: 

Detected when the synchronization error occurs in the condition of the picture input.

Trouble symptom: 

Camera image does not appear. (Blue screen, etc.)

CAUTION: Before performing diagnosis, refer to "CAUTION" in "General Description". Ref. to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .

Wiring diagram: 

Rearview camera system Ref. to WIRING SYSTEM>REARVIEW CAMERA SYSTEM>WIRING DIAGRAM .

Audio and navigation system Ref. to WIRING SYSTEM>AUDIO AND NAVIGATION SYSTEM>WIRING DIAGRAM .

Back-up light system Ref. to WIRING SYSTEM>BACK-UP LIGHT SYSTEM>WIRING DIAGRAM .

  1. CHECK DATA MONITOR  .

    Using the Subaru Select Monitor, check the following items in the [Data Monitor] of [Cockpit Control]. Ref. to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .

    • Rear camera connection state

    Is [ON] displayed?

    Yes:  Go to  2.

    No:  Go to  3.

  2. CHECK DATA MONITOR  .

    Using the Subaru Select Monitor, check the following items in the [Data Monitor] of [Cockpit Control]. Ref. to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .

    • Reverse connection state

    Is [ON] displayed when the shift lever is set to the reverse range?

    Yes:  Go to  3.

    No:  Go to  6.

  3. CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Disconnect the cockpit control module connector (i101).
    3. Disconnect the rearview camera (Td32) connector.
    4. Using the tester, measure the resistance of harness between the cockpit control module connector (i101) and the rearview camera connector (Td32).

      Connector & terminal 

      (i101) No. 29 - (Td32) No. 1:

      (i101) No. 28 - (Td32) No. 2:

      (i101) No. 26 - (Td32) No. 3:

      (i101) No. 27 - (Td32) No. 4:

    Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

    Yes:  Go to  4.

    No:  Repair the open circuit in harness between the cockpit control module connector and the rearview camera connector or camera Control Module connector.

  4. CHECK HARNESS (GROUND SHORT CIRCUIT)  .

    Using the tester, measure the resistance of harness between cockpit control module connector (i101) and chassis ground.

    Connector & terminal 

    (i101) No. 29 - Chassis ground:

    (i101) No. 28 - Chassis ground:

    (i101) No. 26 - Chassis ground:

    (i101) No. 27 - Chassis ground:

    Is the resistance 1 MΩ or more?

    Yes:  Go to  5.

    No:  Repair the short circuit to ground in harness between cockpit control module connectors.

  5. CHECK HARNESS (SHORT CIRCUIT TO POWER SUPPLY)  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Using the tester, measure the voltage between cockpit control module connector (i101) and chassis ground. (With each connector disconnected)

      Connector & terminal 

      (i101) No. 29 (+) - Chassis ground (-):

      (i101) No. 28 (+) - Chassis ground (-):

      (i101) No. 26 (+) - Chassis ground (-):

      (i101) No. 27 (+) - Chassis ground (-):

    Is the voltage less than 1 V?

    Yes:  Go to  6.

    No:  Repair the short circuit to power supply in harness between the cockpit control module connector and the rearview camera connector.

  6. CHECK LAN SYSTEM  .

    Read the DTC of [Cockpit Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    Is DTC U**** displayed? (Current code)

    Yes:  Perform the inspection according to the diagnosis for LAN system. Ref. to LAN SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE>PROCEDURE .

    No:  Go to  7.

  7. CHECK REARVIEW CAMERA  .

    Check the rearview camera according to the instructions of rearview camera operation manual.

    Is there any fault?

    Yes:  Replace the rearview camera. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>CAMERA .

    No:  Replace the cockpit control module. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>COCKPIT DISPLAY .
