DTC C1423: Different Ecu Specifications

DTC detecting condition:  A fault is detected if the vehicle type information obtained from ECM via communication is different from the parameter setting information.

Trouble symptom: 

  1. CHECK VSC (VDC) CONTROL MODULE & H/U IDENTIFICATION SYMBOL  .

    Check the identification symbol attached on the H/U. Ref. to VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>SPECIFICATION>VSCCM & H/U .

    Is the identification symbol correct?

    Yes:  Go to  2.

    No:  Replace the VSC (VDC) Control Module & H/U. Ref. to VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL>VSC (VDC) CONTROL MODULE AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (VSCCM & H/U) .

  2. CHECK TCM SPECIFICATION  .

    Check the TCM specification.

    Is the specification of TCM same as vehicle specification?

    Yes:  Go to  3.

    No:  Replace the TCM. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) .

  3. CHECK CVT SYSTEM  .
    1. Start the engine.
    2. Read the DTC of [Transmission] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to TRANSMISSION (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    Is DTC for [Transmission] displayed?

    Yes:  Perform the diagnosis according to the DTC. Ref. to TRANSMISSION (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>LIST .

    No:  Go to  4.

  4. CHECK ECM SPECIFICATION  .

    Check the ECM specification.

    Is the specification of ECM same as vehicle specification?

    Yes:  Go to  5.

    No:  Replace the ECM. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) .

  5. CHECK ENGINE SYSTEM  .
    1. Start the engine.
    2. Read the DTC of [Engine] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    Is DTC for [Engine] displayed?

    Yes:  Perform the diagnosis according to the DTC. Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>LIST .

    No:  Go to  6.

  6. CHECK VSC (VDC) CONTROL MODULE & H/U  .
    1. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the clear memory of [Brake Control]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>CLEAR MEMORY .
    2. Execute the inspection mode. Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>INSPECTION MODE .
    3. Read the DTC of [Brake Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    Is the same DTC displayed?

    Yes:  Replace the VSC (VDC) Control Module & H/U. Ref. to VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL>VSC (VDC) CONTROL MODULE AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (VSCCM & H/U) .

    No:  Go to  7.

  7. CHECK DETECTION OF OTHER DTCS FOR VSC (VDC)  .

    Read the DTC of [Brake Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    Is any other DTC displayed?

    Yes:  Perform the diagnosis according to the DTC. Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>LIST .

    No:  Currently, it is normal. There may have been a temporary poor contact in the harness and connector or a temporary noise interference.
