  1. CHECK ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITION  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Check if any external device which emits strong electromagnetic waves and noises, such as a radio antenna, is installed inside the vehicle.

    Is there an external device?

Yes:  Remove the external device to check the operation.

If the fault is not fixed:

    Go to  2.

    No Go to  2.

  2. CHECK BATTERY  .

Check the battery. Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DO)>BATTERY>INSPECTION .

    Is the check result OK?

  3. CHECK CONNECTOR  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Check the connecting condition of the combination meter connector.

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes:  Go to  4.

No:  Connect the connector securely. Or repair the poor contact of connector.

  4. CHECK CONNECTOR  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Check if the connector is connected to the combination meter and there is poor contact in the connector.

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes:  Go to  5.

No:  Repair or replace the harness.

  5. CHECK POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT  .
    1. Disconnect the connector from the combination meter. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>COMBINATION METER>REMOVAL .
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Use a tester to measure the voltage between the combination meter connector and chassis ground.
NOTE: Because a temporary open or short circuit may be the cause, shake the harness during this check process.

      Connector & terminal

      (i97) No. 1 (+) - Chassis ground (-):

      (i97) No. 2 (+) - Chassis ground (-):

    Is the voltage 10 - 16 V?

    Yes:  Go to  6.

No:  Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.

  6. CHECK GROUND CIRCUIT (OPEN)  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Use a tester to measure the resistance between the combination meter connector and ground.
NOTE: Because a temporary open or short circuit may be the cause, shake the harness during this check process.

      Connector & terminal

      (i97) No. 40 - Chassis ground:

      (i97) No. 28 - Chassis ground:

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

    Yes:  Go to  7.

No:  Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.

  7. CHECK OPERATION  .
    1. Connect all connectors.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
