Seat Ventilation Cannot Be Operated
Trouble symptom:
Seat ventilation cannot be operated.
Trouble causes:
- Seat ventilation control module failure
- A/C control module failure
- Seat ventilation circuit failure
- Seat heater circuit failure
- Center information display failure
- Cockpit control module failure
- Seat ventilation blower failure
Wiring diagram:
Seat ventilation system Ref. to WIRING SYSTEM>SEAT VENTILATION SYSTEM>WIRING DIAGRAM .
- CHECK SEAT VENTILATION SWITCH DISPLAY
.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Touch the seat indicator on the center information display.
- Check if the seat ventilation switch is displayed under the seat heater switch.
Is the seat ventilation switch displayed?
Yes: Go to 2 .
No: Ref. to VENTILATION SEAT (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTICS WITH PHENOMENON>INSPECTION>SEAT VENTILATION SWITCH IS NOT DISPLAYED .
- IDENTIFY SEAT VENTILATIONS THAT DO NOT FUNCTION .
- CHECK DTC
.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Read the following DTCs using Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to Ventilation Seat (Diagnostics)>Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) . Ref. to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)
. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)
. Ref. to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)

Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes: Perform the diagnosis for the displayed DTCs. Ref. to Ventilation Seat (Diagnostics)>Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) . Ref. to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Ref. to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
No: Go to 4 .
- CHECK CONNECTOR
.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Check connecting condition of the seat ventilation control module connector (St41), seat connectors (L57)
(R57), coupling connectors (B43) (L51) (R51) (St21) (St22), and blower connectors (St71) (St72).
Is the check result OK?
Yes: Go to 5 .
No: Repair the connector.
- CHECK CONNECTOR
.
Check malfunctions (terminal bends, etc.) of the driver's side seat connector (L57) and passenger's side seat connector (R57).
Is the check result OK?
Yes: Go to 6 .
No: Repair the connector.
- CHECK CENTER INFORMATION DISPLAY
.
Touch the passenger's side seat ventilation switch on the center information display, and check if the display for passenger's side seat ventilation operation mode changes.
Does the display change?
Yes: Go to 7 .
- CHECK OPERATION MODE
.
- Touch the passenger's side seat ventilation switch on the center information display.
- Check if the passenger's side seat ventilation operation mode changes.
Does the operation mode change?
Yes: Go to 8 .
- CHECK IF BOTH THE BACKREST SIDE AND THE CUSHION SIDE ARE OPERATING
.
- Start the engine.
- Turn the seat ventilation ON.
- Check if both blowers for backrest and cushion on the passenger's side are operating.
Are both the backrest side and cushion side operating?
Yes: Go to 9 .
- CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)
.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Disconnect the passenger's side seat connector (St1) and seat ventilation control module connector (St41).
- Using the tester, measure the resistance between terminals.
Connector and terminal
(St41) No. 5 - (St1) No. 11:
(St41) No. 14 - (St1) No. 13:
Is the resistance less than 5 Ω?
Yes: Go to 10 .
No: Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.
- CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)
.
- Disconnect the driver's side seat connector (L57) and passenger's side seat connector (R57).
- Using the tester, measure the resistance between terminals.

(L57) No. 11 - (R57) No. 11:
(L57) No. 13 - (R57) No. 13:
Is the resistance less than 5 Ω?
Yes: Go to 11 .
No: Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.
- CHECK CENTER INFORMATION DISPLAY
.
- Connect all connectors.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Touch the driver's side seat ventilation switch on the center information display, and check if the display for driver's side seat ventilation operation mode changes.
Does the display change?
Yes: Go to 12 .
- CHECK OPERATION MODE
.
- Touch the driver's side seat ventilation switch on the center information display.
- Check if the driver's side ventilation operation mode changes.
Does the operation mode change?
Yes: Go to 13 .
- CHECK SEAT VENTILATION
.
- Start the engine.
- Turn the seat ventilation ON.
- Check if both blowers for backrest and cushion on the driver's side are operating.
Are both the backrest side and cushion side operating?
Yes: Even if DTC is displayed, the circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time.
Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.
NOTE: In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, temporary open or short circuit of harness may be the cause.
