Rear Door Hinge

CAUTION: The panel COMPL door rear is heavy. When removing and installing it, always work in a team of two or more persons.
  1. Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  2. Remove the garnish assembly rear door. (OUTBACK model) Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>SIDE GARNISH & SIDE SPOILER>REMOVAL .
  3. Disconnect the cord door rear connector.
    1. Remove the grommet and pull out the cord door rear connector from inside the center pillar.

    2. Disconnect the cord door rear connector.

  4. Remove the cord door rear from the panel COMPL door rear.

  5. Remove the bolt on the vehicle side and disconnect the checker assembly door rear.

  6. Before removing the hinge assembly door rear, make the following preparations.
    CAUTION: Do not lift the panel COMPL door rear with a floor jack excessively. The hinge assembly door rear may be damaged.
    1. Put a wooden block on a floor jack and place the jack under the panel COMPL door rear.
    2. Support the panel COMPL door rear with the jack to protect it from damage.

  7. Remove the bolts on the panel COMPL door rear side of the hinge assembly door rear UPR or the hinge assembly door rear LWR.
    CAUTION: Do not remove the hinge assembly door rear UPR and the hinge assembly door rear LWR at the same time.
  8. Remove the hinge assembly door rear from the vehicle.
