INTRODUCTION
This Service Information Bulletin announces diagnostic information regarding DTC P05A0. In some cases, the front bumper beam mounting tabs for the active grille shutter can be misaligned causing DTC P05A0 to be stored within the ECM. Follow the information outlined in this bulletin if DTC P05A0 is detected.
PRODUCTION CHANGE INFORMATION
The front bumper beams equipped on Legacy & Outback models produced AFTER the starting VIN information provided in the chart provided below will NOT be affected with any misaligned mounting tabs.

- Remove the front bumper. Refer to the applicable Service Manual: Body & Electrical/WIRING SYSTEM > EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM > Front Bumper
- Inspect the active grille shutter mounting tabs located on the front bumper beam for any incorrect alignment.
EXAMPLES:
- If any incorrect alignment of the mounting tab(s) is found, replace the front bumper beam as per the applicable Service Manual: Body & Electrical > EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM > Front Bumper
- If the mounting tabs are found to be correctly aligned, continue diagnosis for DTC P05A0 by following the applicable Service Manual.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Whenever reconnecting the ground cable terminal to the battery sensor, torque to 7.5Nm (5.5ft.-lbs. or 66inch-lbs.) while supporting the sensor with the other hand as outlined in the applicable Service Manual under: STARTING/CHARGING SYSTSEMS > Battery Sensor .
